Beyond the Binary

I know you’ve heard a lot of people compare the world we live in to the movie The Matrix. If you’ve seen it, you probably remember the scene where Morpheus offers Neo the blue pill or the red pill and says:

“You take the blue pill—the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill—you stay in Wonderland, and I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes. Remember, all I’m offering is the truth, nothing more.”

But have you ever stopped to wonder why he was limited to that choice?

Morpheus never actually said the truth lived inside either pill. He simply framed the moment as this or that. Obey the rules of the game, or rebel against them—but still play the game. What if the truth wasn’t in either option? What if real truth required discernment beyond what was being offered in that moment? What if Neo didn’t choose rebellion or compliance and instead chose consciousness?

Every single day, we’re force-fed the same kind of choice.
Republican vs. Democrat.
Capitalism vs. Socialism.
Science vs. Religion.
Male vs. Female.
Race vs. Race.

In this dualistic world, we’re programmed to believe reality can only exist inside an oversimplified binary. And that isn’t accidental—it’s by design.

Dualism keeps us trapped in an “us vs. them” mentality, standing on manufactured battle lines, arguing over narratives that keep our attention locked outward. We’re so busy being right, defending beliefs, and reacting to opposition that we never turn inward to discover our own self-awareness, discernment, and sovereignty.

When we buy into binary thinking, the world becomes a stage for constant struggle. Your nervous system stays on high alert. Your mind becomes reactive. Anything that challenges what you believe feels like a threat instead of information. And over time, we forget how to listen—to ourselves and to one another.

But what if Neo chose neither pill? What if he stepped back and explored the grey area that exists between every so-called choice? What if he refused to give his energy away to a system that thrives on chaos, separation, and perpetual conflict?

What if we did that? What if instead of red vs. blue, black vs. white, right vs. wrong, we chose humanity?

Choosing a path outside of the limiting binaries breaks the cycle. You’re no longer a pawn in someone else’s tug-of-war. You step off the battlefield altogether and simply observe the chaos—without feeding it. And without nourishment, it eventually starves.

From that vantage point, something powerful happens.

You begin to see from every perspective instead of viewing the world compressed into two extremes. Your intuition starts to reemerge. Creativity returns. Discernment sharpens. You no longer need someone to tell you what to think, who to hate, or which side you’re supposed to stand on.

When you stop allowing your decisions to be controlled by “this or that,” you remember who you are.

Instead of “us vs. them,” the unity of we becomes your driving force—not because you’re naive, but because you can finally see connection where dualism once created division. And by simply refusing to play the game, you show others that another way exists.

That way won’t look the same for everyone. But the end result is the same: True, divine sovereignty.

And in case you forgot, I love you,

Jenni
